O pintor costa-riquenho-alemão vive no Brasil desde 2021. A exposição Metamorfoses, apresenta sua obra pictórica realizada entre 2021 e 2023. É uma exposição de pinturas que sintetiza suas impressões e inspirações sobre a paisagem brasileira, bem como suas influências centro-americanas e europeias. O título Metamorfoses: Fluxos entre cores e formas enfatiza a importância do processo pictórico, do jogo de formas e cores inspiradas na natureza que aparecem ou permaneceram sob novas formas ou cores. É um jogo plástico intuitivo e gestual que convida o espectador a apreciar a pintura como um evento estético de imersão.

New Screen print titled La Pantera, inspired by Rilke's poem La Pantera. It is a unique and limited edition, only for friends. It is a high quality series made with 11 different colors (to achieve a very pictorial print) and on Markatto Concetto Bianco paper (cotton texture).  It was made in the Laredo silkscreen workshop. It measures 46 x 67 cm.

Osvaldo Orias is a Costa Rican artist, naturalized German, who currently lives in Brasilia. His work focuses on painting, mainly acrylic on canvas.  His work merges and updates the Latin American and European pictorial heritage. The areas of color in his works determine forms of interrelation and their arrangements are open to infinite meanings. The artist takes figures from nature and simplifies, geometricizes, and combines them in large-format compositions, where the exercise tends either towards the figurative or towards the abstract.

The exhibition presents some of the results of the artist's research and focuses on the production of the last ten years. During this period, the artist has traveled extensively throughout the world, and landscape has become a recurring theme. His pictorial exercises around landscapes explore the fantastic relationships between their elements. Chromatic contrasts vary from sharp to soft, and the planes develop in successions of layers.

The artist Osvaldo Orias presents in conjunction with Karak Art Lab Gallery the painting exhibition entitled Optical Bread.

In this exhibition you can contemplate works that were made in the last year, a time when last year, a period framed in the

global context of the Covid19 pandemic.

Covid19 pandemic. The artist's work represents his vision in that context and at the same time his personal his personal

response to the crisis. The title Pan Óptico refers to a "total" or general"or general visualization, making use of the Greek

etymological origin of the words pan (all) and optic. The words pan (all) and optic (opsis = visual).

The exhibition is therefore in this sense an optical bread of the artist. Also the title plays symbolically with the word bread as

food, in this case visual, for the viewers.

To present this exhibition, the artist created a piece composed of more than thirty paintings of different sizes and formats in

paintings of different formats and sizes on the main wall of the Kara Gallery. At the same in turn, this oval-shaped piece is presented

as a visual unit.  This type of montage has its reference in some Russian constructivism montages of the 20th century and in the

one known as the "Gallery of the known as the "St. Petersburg Gallery".

Making use of his wide experience as a painter, the artist incorporated in this phase of his production the pouring technique with paint.

By way of illustration we highlight the work entitled "Sea Mountain", a wonderful painting of rectangular format painting that

represents a seascape where a huge wave, similar to a mountain-like wave bursts forcefully into the sky. It is an image of an

expressionist character by the dramaturgy contained in the landscape, both in the sea and in the sky with storms.

El artista Osvaldo Orias presenta en conjunto con la Galería Karak Art Lab la muestra de
pintura titulada Pan Óptico. En esta exhibición se pueden contemplar obras que fueron
realizadas en el último año, una época enmarcada en el contexto mundial de la
pandemia del Covid19. La obra del artista representa su visión en dicho contexto y a la
vez su respuesta personal ante tal crisis. El titulo Pan Óptico hace referencia a una
“visualización total“ o general, haciendo uso para ello del origen etimológico griego de
las palabras pan (todo) y óptico (opsis = visual).
La exposición es por tanto en dicho sentido un pan óptico del artista. También el título
juega simbólicamente con la palabra pan como alimento, en este caso visual, para los
espectadores.
Para presentar esta exposición el artista creo una pieza compuesta con más de treinta
pinturas de diferentes formatos y tamaños en la pared principal de la galería Kara. A su
vez dicha pieza, forma ovalada, se presenta como una unidad visual. Este tipo de
montaje tiene su referencia en algunos montajes del constructivismo ruso del siglo XX y
en el conocido como la “Galería de San Petersburgo”.
Haciendo uso de su amplia experiencia como pintor el artista incorporó en esta fase de
su producción la técnica pouring con pintura acrílica, lo cual permite un juego creativo
donde el azar juega un rol importante. Pero el artista no ha dejado todo al azar con dicha
técnica, también ha controlado el proceso pictórica con composiciones geométricas
planeadas y/o con composiciones más libres y orgánicas mezcladas con motivos que van
también de la figuración a lo semi abstracto.
El artista costarricense y nacionalizado alemán sintetiza en su arte las influencias tanto
del arte latinoamericano como de la tradición expresionista alemana.
Del arte latinoamericano persiste una paleta colorida y muy matizada además de la
utilización de recursos matéricos como variadas arenas volcánicas, esquirlas metálicas o
pigmentos terrosos. Del arte alemán tiene la expresividad devenida de la escuela
expresionista.
A manera de ilustración destacamos la obra titulada “Montaña marina“, una maravillosa
pintura de formato rectangular que representa un paisaje marino donde una enorme
ola, parecida a una montaña, irrumpe con fuerza hacia el cielo. Es una imagen de un
carácter expresionista por la dramaturgia contenida en el paisaje, tanto en el mar como
en el cielo con tormentas. Pero es a la vez es una pintura colorida y benigna en su efecto
visual, lo cual le da por la combinación de ambas dimensiones un aura sublime. Con tal
efecto el espectador experimenta belleza visual.
Hablar de pintura es siempre difícil puesto que es un arte visual. Por dicha razón les
invitamos cordialmente a visitar esta exposición y detenerse en la contemplación que
ella nos permite.

Osvaldo Orias presenta en el Museo Pedro de Osma “Panóptico“, una nueva serie de pinturas realizadas en el transcurso de 2 años en Lima.  Como es de suponer, el artista ha recibido infinidad de nuevas impresiones las cuales fue interiorizando y trabajando poco a poco en su taller. De ése trabajo surge el material pictórico, el “panóptico del artista“.
La palabra panóptico tiene su raíz etimológica en el griego pan “todo“ y óptico “perteneciente a ser mirado“. También griegas son las palabras opsis “ver“ y el sufijo tikos “vista“.
Históricamente la palabra panóptico fue creada por el jurista y filósofo inglés Jeremy Bentham para nombrar su propuesta de una vigilancia carcelaria múltiple, una cárcel circular en la que un solo vigilante podía mirar y controlar a todos los reclusos.
Inspirado en ése mecanismo de control Michel Foucault crea posteriormente el concepto panopticismo para referirse a una voluntad de control y de vigilancia por parte de grupos e instituciones de poder de una sociedad.
El artista Osvaldo Orias se inspira por su parte en la idea general de panóptico: “el todo que es mirado“; entendiéndose aquí el todo como la ciudad, sus objetos y su gente. No es una mirada sociológica sobre la ciudad sino la mirada ávida y curiosa que analiza, decodifica e interioriza las impresiones vividas en lo cotidiano. Su nueva serie de pinturas es la visión personal que Orias ha creado y que desea compartir.
Para ser consecuentes con la idea de panóptico, entendemos también como el todo al conjunto de pinturas de esta exhibición, las cuales a su vez son miradas, decodificadas y/o contempladas por el público espectador de la muestra.

Der Maler Osvaldo Orias präsentiert seine Bilder dieses Mal auf eine andere Art, nämlich auf einer Art, die an das Konzept Horror Vacui (lateinisch: Abscheu vor der Leere) erinnert. Ähnlich wie bei der Petersburger Hängung, bei der die Bilder ganz dich beieinander hängen, werden die Bilder an den Wänden der Galerie Frei (aktuelles Studio des Künstlers) fast ohne Zwischenräume in großer Fülle gezeigt. Damit möchte Orias den Betrachter nicht nur auf einzelne Bilder aufmerksam machen, sondern auf das Gesamtwerk des Künstlers (sein „Louvre“).

So entsteht im kleinen Raum der Galerie ein originelles Spannungsfeld mit neuen Betrachtungsmöglichkeiten und zahlreichen Eindrücken.

„Im Laufe des Kreativprozesses geschieht eine Art Abscheu vor Leere“, meint der Künstler. Das Werk entsteht auf einer leeren weißen Leinwand, als ob die Bilder aus dem Nichts kämen. Die Leere wird von Farben und Formen erfüllt. Orias vermeidet bewusst konkrete Vorstellungen vor dem Malen und lässt sich von Intuition, dem Unterbewussten und von spontanen Ideen leiten.

Durch diese Art des Malens werden die Bilder selbst für den Künstler zu einer Überraschung. Damit setzt sich der Künstler mit inneren Bildern und ihrem Bezug zur Wirklichkeit auseinander.

Dass Kunst zum Teil als Therapie gesehen werden kann, liegt für den Maler nicht nur an der Beziehung zwischen dem Bildhaften und dem Unterbewussten, sondern auch an der Heilkraft des Sich-Ausdrückens beim Malen.

„Das ist eines der Geheimnisse des Lebens: Die Seele durch die Sinne zu heilen und die Sinne durch die Seele“ hat Oscar Wilde mal gesagt.
