Osvaldo Orias - Painting:

 

His collage series addresses the question of human existence and the basic existential questions of life - from existence to the essence of man. Although his works present people as the central figure in the picture, these people are painted almost like a silhouette - dark and mysterious. The silhouette stands for the human being in general, without revealing a specific face or its identity. The paintings convey a soulful yet calm mood and can be freely interpreted by the viewer.

From Osvaldo Orias of Costa Rica comes the series "Invisible Company." Faceless figures appear on small formats; the use of gold leaf gives the scenes an auratic aura. Painter Mandana Mezgarzadeh takes a completely different approach to the subject. She has portrayed her boyfriend, whom she regards as her own personal guardian angel.

"3x1:9" is what Osvaldo Orias, Hadi Hand and Karin Euler-Schulze call their exhibition at the Museum Zündorfer Wehrturm. This means that they are three independent artists who cleverly multiply their works in a mixed way and present them on the nine levels of the multi-story building. For Karin Euler-Schulze, this goal is unquestionably the return for the lost origin. For a long time, the Cologne-born artist has been interested...in the interface in the experience of archaic cultures and modern life experience. Her terracotta head profiles focus on the elemental fascination with the human face, which can be both mirror and mask, a place of familiarity and strangeness at the same time. In the condensation of human experience in the motif of the face, a continuous band stretches from the mask and head representations of primitive peoples to modern portrait design.

 

In a series of mammoth and giraffe sculptures, which are supposed to demonstrate the exodus of the animals since the ice age, the artist shows that man, despite all the glances at himself, should not understand himself without the nature surrounding him, Exodus Why? And Exodus where to ? are the obvious questions.

Seine Collage-Serie thematisiert die Frage nach dem menschlichen Dasein und den existenziellen Grundfragen des Lebens – vom Dasein zum Wesen des Menschen. Seine Arbeiten präsentieren die Menschen zwar als Zentralfigur im Bild, dennoch werden diese Personen fast wie eine Silhouette gemalt - dunkel und geheimnisvoll. Die Silhouette steht für den Menschen im Allgemeinen, ohne ein bestimmtes Gesicht oder dessen Identität preiszugeben. Die Bilder vermitteln eine gefühlvolle und zugleich ruhige Stimmung und können vom Betrachter frei interpretiert werden.

Von Osvaldo Orias aus Costa Rica stammt die Serie „Unsichtbare Begleitung“. Auf kleinen Formaten tauchen gesichtslose Gestalten auf; die Verwendung von Blattgold gibt den Szenen eine auratische Ausstrahlung. Völlig anders geht die Malerin Mandana Mezgarzadeh das Thema an. Sie hat ihren Freund porträtiert, den sie als ihren ganz persönlichen Schutzengel betrachtet.

„3x1:9“ nennen Osvaldo Orias, Hadi Hand und Karin Euler-Schulze ihre Ausstellung im Museum Zündorfer Wehrturm. Das heißt: drei eigenständige Künstler sind sie, die ihre Arbeiten geschickt durchmischt multiplizieren und auf den neun Ebenen des mehrgeschossigen Gemäuers präsentieren. Dieses Ziel ist für Karin Euler-Schulze fraglos die Rückkehr für den verlorenen Ursprung. Seit langem interessiert sich die in Köln geborene Künstlerin…für die Schnittstelle in der Erfahrung archaischer Kulturen und moderner Lebenserfahrung. Ihre aus Terrakotta gefertigten Kopfprofile setzen auf die elementare Faszination am menschlichen Gesicht, das Spiegel und Maske sein kann, Ort der Vertrautheit und des Fremden zugleich. In der Verdichtung der menschlichen Erfahrung im Motiv des Gesichtes erstreckt sich ein kontinuierliches Band von den Masken- und Kopfdarstellungen der Naturvölker bis zur modernen Porträtgestaltung.

Dass sich der Mensch bei allen Blicken auf sich selbst nicht ohne die ihn umgebende Natur begreifen sollte, zeigt die Künstlerin in einer Serie von Mammut- und Giraffen-Skulpturen, die den Exodus der Tiere seit der Eiszeit demonstrieren sollen, Exodus Warum? Und Exodus wohin ? lauten die nahe liegenden Fragen.
